How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Camden fringe?
The show was at first meant to be a real acting class to be delivered to college students. While my wife was preparing for it, I kept interrupting her with jokes and little by little we realized that we could turn it into a short play. The name is a testament to the fact that we put all our creativity in the script and there was none left for the title.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
It is a classical comedy of misunderstandings. It has been conceived in an American campus in the middle east by two Italians convinced that the language of Theatre is universal.
We do not want to spoil too much: let’s just say that more than one language is spoken on stage but subtitles are not necessary. And, yes, I said classical comedy but again, without spoiling too much, in one scene we move from Pirandello to Disco Music, so be prepared for the unexpected!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
It is an incredible program; we are going to stay for few days only in London and we will maybe be able to see only one show or two. We’ll see what’s available in the days adjacent to our performance.
How are rehearsals going?
Very well, we have by now a very tight crew and everyone is super excited about going to London.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
Well, it is London and it something we would have not dreamt of when we wrote the show. Can’t wait for meeting friends in a pub after the show!
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Everyone one should have a brother who lives in London! We will crash his place and our main actor is (God bless him!) actually from London. Honestly, I don’t think we would have been able to participate if it weren’t for this.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
People who love theatre, who love well crafted jokes, who are curious about Italian Theatre and the Commedia dell’Arte masks and are willing to turn off their mobiles for one hour.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this year’s pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
I suppose the English word I’d use for it, is ‘selfconfident’.
