How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Camden Fringe?

The name Inside A Mind came quite naturally once when I started working with the idea of manifesting trauma as something physical. As a writer I wanted the audience to feel like they were being invited into Sage’s head, experiencing her thoughts and feelings. The cast have done an amazing job creating an atmosphere on stage where thoughts, memories, and survival mechanisms all clash and collide. The title speaks to the raw intimacy of what it’s like to live with PTSD.

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

It’s a spoken word play that blends poetry, movement, and narrative to explore mental health, particularly PTSD. The style is lyrical but grounded, and we work physically with the idea of memory and trauma being embodied. It’s not just about telling Sage’s story—it’s about showing how trauma can manipulate a person’s body and mind, and how healing starts when we finally stop running from it.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Camden Fringe always delivers such a variety of voices! We’re excited to see shows that are playing with form or exploring personal stories—anything rooted in truth with a twist of creativity. Also keen to see other work tackling mental health and queerness—there’s something powerful about watching artists be brave on stage.

How are rehearsals going?

Rehearsals have been short but energising. We completed a run of the show back in March and  have had a few rehearsals to recap for the fringe. Luckily we’ve built a space that feels safe for exploration, and we’re constantly refining how we represent trauma with care and creativity – so this show feels like a brand new retelling! The cast are phenomenal and incredibly connected to the story.

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden Fringe?

The freedom. Camden Fringe gives artists the space to take risks and platform stories that might not be heard elsewhere. It’s affordable for people from all walks of like which leads to audiences always being curious and generous.

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

Network! And don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether it’s for a rehearsal space or props, the theatre community is so generous and will always recommend just what you need.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Anyone who’s been through something hard and come out the other side—or is still trying to. We designed the show to educate and empower those who have been through similar experiences, we want to create a space of hope and healing.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this year’s pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

We’d name this year’s pigeon Scrappy. The design this year reads as very scrap book inspired, collating different images to make the iconic pigeon. The blend of styles used for the logo is very fitting for a festival that also blends a variety of art forms.
