Musicals At The Fringe – FEATURE – The Extraordinary Journey Of Miss Brexit…

Today we let Miss Brexit Show take the reigns and take us on a journey on how the show keeps getting bigger….

We’re a migrant led collective of early-career actors, now in our third year of self-funded development of this show. During that time, we’ve toured it across Europe and London, won two awards, and most recently completed a critically acclaimed run at Omnibus Theatre in London.

Going to the Ed Fringe is a real achievement and we are really glad to be able to go there this year.…”

In January, we received Arts Council funding to redevelop the piece and perform at CONTACT Manchester alongside the  outreach project in Manchester offering migrant theatre making  workshops to different communities.

Finally this spring, we were awarded the Keep It Fringe award—which helped us secure a slot at Underbelly, Bristo Square theatre  for the whole month.

Going to the Ed Fringe is a real achievement and we are really glad to be able to go there this year. As five early-career actors, and after lots of work, efforts, concessions and sometimes, doubts, we feel ready to pour everything into this run with one main goal: to establish ourselves professionally. Performing at the Fringe is our chance to reach a wider audience, attract press and industry, and finally turn three years of intense work into the best possible momentum we could have in the UK theatre industry.

We are open for collaborations with the international performing industry as well. It is also an opportunity for us to share our values on a wider spectrum. As international artists, it is part of our cultural identity to keep in touch with our roots and to share these shamelessly to a wider audience.

“…we’ve toured it across Europe and London, won two awards, and most recently completed a critically acclaimed run at Omnibus Theatre in London..”

Learning about new demographics of  audiences and collaborating in a more intentional way will allow the expansion of all our work goals: be able to create new work, have a platform to showcase minorities/diversity and continue the outreach program to vulnerable communities.

After this run in EdFringe we will see in which direction we will continue as a collective and individuals. We did and are doing everything that is in our hands to make the most out of it but they are always things out of our control so we learn to trust, surrender and mainly enjoy this exciting ride!

Come along to see Miss Brexit at Ermintrude, Underbelly at Bristo Square (Venue 302) – at 1.25pm between the 30th July-24th August
