REVIEW – Comedy At The Fringe – Burt Williamson: 104kg of pure Banter

It is always a refreshing thing with stand up when a comedian decides to talk about everyday life that others can relate to. Whilst Burt’s show deal’s with this throughout the show he also brings a personal touch as he relates it to his actual own experiences. Which it becomes clear a lot of the audience can relate to.

It is a fun show that looks at everything from running for ‘charity’ (is it really for them or to make us pay you money to do a hobby), the problem with supermarkets, the ridiculous side of the website Just Giving, food and relationships. There is even stories about the love hate relationship with his new girlfriends cat where there are a lot of funny stories that get the audience laughing a lot. There is also some jokes about TikTok that everyone can relate to.

There is a section of the show where a member of the audience decides to try and become part of the show, which can be a very hard thing for a comedian to deal with whilst they are on stage performing a written show. Burt deals with the audience member very professionally without disturbing the pace of the show and being able to move onto the next section swiftly.

The show creates a fun energy between stand up and the audience, there are lots of parts of the show that create a room full of laughter which also reflects on the pace and the energy in the show. I would say that the energy is constantly high and there are not areas where it lags. Burt is a very likeable persona on stage that means that his type of comedy can be enjoyed by the masses.

If you are looking for an hour or well written, fun stand up then this is the show that you will want to see this year at the Fringe. It is light hearted, full of fun stories and a great pace.
