How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
Tim: When “The Walking Dead” was on TV years ago I thought it’d be a lot of fun to do an improvised version. After telling anyone who would listen about it, and my love of the Romero “of the Dead” films I realized the pun(?) Improv the Dead and it stuck.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
Tim: It’s a completely improvised narrative comedy horror inspired by zombie films. We try to keep the fun going all the way through by ‘pausing’ so we can get some more suggestions from the audience and show some deleted scenes!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Tim: For short form Improv Deathmatch and Gamez are always a good night and there’s a chance to so Bristol group Tales from the Wasteland. And of course there’s Kerfuffle and the Bystanders, but some of us are in those groups too, so that’s cheating.
How are rehearsals going?
Becky: We just had a great one last night – it’s very exciting, working up a long show from small exercises and in sections, seeing it come together gradually over a few months as a full show. It’s a very rewarding process!
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
Becky: There are some really great venues and it gives those of us who are based in or near London the chance to get the full festival experience in these places without having to spend a fortune on travel and accommodation costs. I think that then emboldens groups in subsequent years to stretch their wings further, after having such a great experience here.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Tim: Living here helps with accommodation…. My main hack for the tube is if you have to change from the piccadilly line to the victoria line at Green Park, don’t follow the signs, go up to the the exit level and back down again! Will save you a long walk.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Annabel: My dream audience member is Brian Blessed. I love a loud laugher and I’m perfectly content to have him utterly derail the show.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Becky: It definitely looks like a horror-pigeon to me. There are black & white film vibes to it as well, so maybe I’d call it Hitchcock?
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
