Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Hey – I’m Steffan, a bilingual, bisexual comedian from Wales.

Tell us all about your show!

It’s the culmination of 14 years of writing and performing! An hour of killer jokes, a feel-good show that everyone will enjoy.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Oh, so many! Other Welsh comics like Josh Elton and Ignacio Lopez. I’m always excited to see new work from Jake Baker. I can’t WAIT to see Cerys Bradley’s show! And Leslie Gold’s. I love this festival, and there’s nothing better than watching a comedian for a full hour.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

It’s my debut year – but it’s also my ninth full run at the festival.

My advice would be, do things your own way. For years, I brought up short 45-minute shows to avoid reviews and awards. I built an audience, made good money, and had a blast.

Another piece of advice – talk to other acts, and ask them their tips. Comedians love giving advice! And there are so many useful things to learn.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Aha, well, this year, I’ll start my day with breakfast. At 1pm.

Then it’s off to host 2 Truths 1 Lie – a panel show where the audience must guess which comedian is lying to them. I’ll be hosting three of these each day – and then performing my own show at 9.30pm.

After that, for the first two weeks I’ll be co-hosting a half-midnight show called Comedians Play Video Games on the PBH Free Fringe. It’s exactly what it sounds like.

I finish off each day by looking back and regretting my failure to see more shows.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

The Tron! Love a pub lunch.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Being surrounded by so many artists. Everywhere you turn, there are more wonderful friends and brilliant comedians.

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

It’s non-stop. Performing multiple shows a day every single day. I’ll celebrate the end of the festival by locking myself in a dark room and thinking about nothing.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

My pillow! It’s a busy festival. I don’t have time to get used to a new pillow.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Lose your debit card. Marry a millionaire. In a pinch, rob a bank.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Card reader! Specifically for those with Pay What You Want Shows. Don’t force your audience to carry cash.

A novel! When you feel yourself starting to go mad, find a cafe, ready your book.

Headphones! You know those loop ones that block out sound? Those are good.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Write an absolutely incredible show. When you flyer, tell people that your show is absolutely incredible. They’ll be able to sense that you’re telling the truth.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I’m on Instagram, BluSky and TikTok @steffanalun.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

It’s absolutely incredible.
