Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Thor Odin Stenhaug! I’m a Norwegian comedian based in London, and I’m doing my Edinburgh Fringe debut hour this year!

Tell us all about your show!

My show is called ‘One Night Stand Baby’, and it’s about growing up with my parents who had a one night stand, never coupled up – but still raised me together. In a way it’s a love letter to my parents but in many other ways it’s an hour of my best stand-up.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I normally only realise this after I arrive at the festival and see people’s posters and who’s around. However, I’ve seen Jack Barry working out some new stuff recently and I find him so funny. I’m also excited to see Alex Farrow, Hasan Al-Habib, Barry Ferns, Bebe Cave, Helen Bauer and Ian Smith, as well as my boys Mike Rice and Vittorio Angelone.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I have done split bills and WIPs in Edinburgh before but this is my first official show which is super exciting! Micky Overman told me that she walks up Arthur’s Seat everyday, which I think is a great way to clear your head in between shows. The Fringe is so fun but it’s also so intense, so anything that can make you switch off completely is great. I’ve gone for a swim by Portobello Beach a few times and it’s so cold you have no other option than to focus solely on surviving.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I wake up later and later as the festival goes on. I do a short vocal warmup (I’m aware how pretentious this sounds but I’ve lost my voice sooo many times and it’s hell). I then normally go and do a short spot at a mixed bill show, meet up with some friends and get ready for my own show. After that I enjoy being young and healthy and surrounded by lots of my friends.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I love Red Box Noodle Bar. I love Noodles so much and my friend Jack tells me I’m not allowed to have them on dates because apparently the way I eat them is disgusting.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

So many of my friends are up there which makes it feel like a summer camp for comedians.

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

So many of my friends are up there which makes it feel like a summer camp for comedians (yes, it’s the same answer but a month is a long time for a summer camp).

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

My mum’s raincoat from the 90s. I mainly take it cause it rains so much in Edinburgh but it’s also so big it kind of gives this Oasis vibe. How current.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

My best hack is that I drink shandies instead of pints. It doesn’t save you that much money but it slows you down and escapes you from the next day hangover. I learned quickly that being hungover at the fringe is a terrible place to be in.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Headphones, a night mask and a book that you, despite your great ambition, won’t read whilst you’re up there.

what’s the secret to successful flyering?

I’m actually a pretty good flyerer. For a while, I was definitely a better flyerer than comedian (Hopefully that has now changed). The best advice I can give is that if you’re flyering for a show that you’re in, let people know. I would always just go “look it’s me” and point to myself on the flyerer, and people normally get pleasantly surprised.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

You’ll have fun!
