Hello! Tell us about yourself.
My name is María García. I was born in Málaga, Spain, and raised in Germany, where I founded Lola Flamenco Productions in 2018. Since then, we’ve produced a variety of innovative flamenco shows. I’m the writer and director of Lola, Vivaldi Flamenco, and FlamencoFlamenco?!, among others—and I also perform as one of the lead dancers in these productions.
Tell us all about your show!
Lola is a flamenco dance musical that blends flamenco with jazz and Latin pop, creating a fresh and captivating take on the genre. It tells the story of Lola, a young widow who escapes the poverty of 1960s Spain to seek work abroad and support the family she left behind. The show takes audiences on an emotional journey of resilience, courage, and the search for hope and love.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?
I haven’t seen the full programme yet, so I’m excited to discover new artists and be inspired by the incredible range of performances.
If this is your first time—what are you looking forward to?
We’re thrilled to be part of such a renowned and diverse festival, surrounded by artists from all over the world. We can’t wait to share Lola with new audiences and immerse ourselves in the energy of so many amazing performances.
