Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I am a performer and writer and I am often drawn to characters who have a secret, innate and sometimes supernatural power. A power that allows them to transcend the loneliness and limits of their carefully crafted personal prison and mythology. In recent years, I have performed a number of self-penned plays at fringe theatre venues, made my own short films, written for a range of mediums and acted in films and TV.

But hey, enough about me! Who are you? Do you ever feel…lonely? Lost? Like you’re waiting for a sign? Come to my show. Hopefully I’ll show you the way.

Tell us all about your show!

I wrote this show out of a need to make sense of the great mystery of why we are all here…Are we here to climb and climb and make it to the top? Or are we here to connect?

Told through the perspective of Mary, the show examines the ways in which we may hide from pain and seek to be defined by the glory of material success. A seemingly normal teenager with no discernible talents, Mary believes that she is destined for greatness and refuses to be defined by the death of her mother.  When an iconic TikTok influencer Gabriella Dios visits her school, a burning need for success is ignited within Mary – she will be a star.

Led by the signs she believes she is receiving from the Universe, Mary forges her own path to greatness. From hosting her own funeral to dropping out of school to cleaning bins and making love to her anger, there is nothing Mary isn’t ready to do to prove herself. But at what cost?

Centre of the Universe invites audiences to look outwards and question what we value as success.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

SO many! I’m especially excited to see one of my favourite comedians – Cat Cohen. I saw her WIP a couple of months ago at Soho Theatre and I can’t wait to see how she’s developed the show. I also can’t wait for David Jonsson’s ‘Paldem’ which is on at the same venue (Tech Cube Zero) straight after ‘Centre of the Universe’. He’s such a phenomenal actor and I really look forward to seeing his writing in action!

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

I’m so grateful to be bringing the show to Summerhall and am so excited to be performing every night for the month – what a gift! I also can’t wait to watch such a variety of shows and connect with the audiences.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Open my eyes, give thanks to the Universe, write my Morning Pages (thank you Julia Cameron), fuel my body, maybe go over my lines and try to see a show or two before the evening. I like to leave a lot of time to rest and to get in the zone for the show.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I’m really compelled by the selection of food trucks at the Fringe and look, if there’s a pickle or chickpeas involved I’m there. Chick + Pea is really good! Also, on the matter of pickles…there’s a show called ‘Pickled Republic’ which looks great!

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Getting to share a show you love every day for a month. Oh joy! And being surrounded by people who are also performing and/or visiting. More joy!

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

Being a solo performer is wonderful but at times, it can feel a little lonely to not share the journey with other actors. But I do like to think that the audience and I are scene partners. We’re sharing the experience and that’s so delicate and beautiful.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

My phone. You never know when Hollywood will call and make you a star.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Abundance, gratitude and humility. I’m being silly (I can’t help it!) but I do think mindset is more important than any items. Look, I’m just an immaterial girl in a material world.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Flyering is like manifestation on steroids. Act like you’ve released the need for the person to see your show and they’ll come. Remember, the Universe acts in mysterious ways.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I’m pretty mysterious but follow me on Instagram, please! @centreoftheuniverse_show for more on the show and @gaiamondadori for me me me

And finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

TO FEEL SEEN.
