Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I’m a writer/director and I’ve worked across documentary, branded content, and narrative storytelling, with projects that have aired on NBC, HBO, Netflix. I started my career in sports storytelling with Olympic documentaries. From there I have moved around to touch everything from branded campaigns, music videos to film and TV.
I started my production company called Good Potato Productions, where I make work about authentic, impactful stories that tackle themes of identity, love and pressing social issues.
Anyone that knows me knows I love cows way too much and I’m a self proclaimed potato enthusiast.
Tell us all about your show!
Call Me Crazy is a dark, funny, and way-too-personal look at chronic pain and being dismissed by the medical system. An unflinching true story that screams the unsaid and examines the undone. It’s a complex look at a woman as she risks it all deciding what is better; to disappear, be tossed aside or give in and completely explode.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Everything. I’m so excited to see as much as I can while I’m there. The Fringe is so community based that I’m probably more excited to see everyone else’s shows more than anything. I love watching things I wouldn’t expect or exposing myself to formats I’m not familiar with. So I’m excited to discover a lot while I’m there. I also love comedy and there are going to be some amazing acts going this year. There are so many ways to entertain and I’m just excited to be in a city that’s going to be full of opportunities to see them.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
This will be my first time at the Fringe! The key advice I’ve received is to enjoy it. Just like with every production the time goes faster than you think. It takes a lot of work and even more moving parts but I’m trying to enjoy the chaos both during the lead up and while I’m there.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
I’m so excited to be going back to the city of Edinburgh, it’s one of my favorite cities. So I’m excited to be back this time during the Fringe. There is something magical about the city and I can’t wait to see it in its element.
I’m excited to be putting this piece of work up as a part of the Fringe community. To be included in the program of so many great performers is exciting in itself. You say you’re going to do something and then there are so many moments after that statement that make it feel like it won’t happen. Then when it does happen it seems like a miracle that everything came together. That moment always makes the chaos worth it. I’m excited for that moment.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
They can follow me on instagram @_doubleohseven and @callmecrazyplay.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
In its simplest form: “F*** this s***”.
