Hello! Tell us about yourself?
My name is Aylin, I’m a contemporary flamenco dancer, I trained in Spain, and relocated to NYC in September 2024.
Tell us all about your show!
The show Flamencodanza is a special project for me, it’s a Flamenco show with guitar and dance, that I have been crafting for a while. We’ve traveled around the world performing the show, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the US.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
When performing a season of over 20 shows it can be a challenge to find time for seeing shows, however this year I’m planning to see more live music acts.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
Yes, bring along your art and work as well as some energy, patience and courage!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
After a good breakfast I like to get ready for the day, arrange whatever needs to be arranged, do some marketing, and get prepared for the show.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Because I do a lot of traveling, I like cooking my own meals at the place I’m staying at.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Performing at the C-venues is always a good experience because the team is very helpful and supportive, they make sure you have everything you need for the performance, and it’s great to do a full season where you get to perform every night. With all the traveling I normally do, I appreciate having that routine for shows, it’s great to be able to focus solely on performing for that time.
What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?
When you perform in a nice venue and the audience enjoys the shows, it’s a win-win.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
The touring luggage always feels special to me.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Book your accommodation well ahead, calculate your budget for the time you’ll be in Edinburgh, and spend on what is important for you.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
At least phone, umbrella and warm clothes
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
