For the last eight months or so I have had a note on m phone. Anytime that I watch a show, read or hear a ridiculous quote I have kept a copy of it. Why? Well, I felt they could be great suggestions for an improv scene and today I thought I would share them with you. Maybe you can use for a rehearsal or even in a live show for the line of dialogue game – whatever you want. Here you go!
“If I could marry a cake I would!” – The Pioneer Woman, Food Network
The quote that started the idea for this article off. One of the episodes of Ree Drummond’s show The Pioneer Women, she says this whilst making some sort of dessert and she says it so seriously I thought it was hilarious that I felt I had to write it down.
“Take us into the paintily” – Portrait Artist of The Year, Sky Arts
I always thought Paintily was a made up obnoxious word that was only used in this show. However I started to learn it was real and used a lot. I thought that it could make a really good suggestion for a scene.
“Someone to be the wife of my kids” – Love Is Blind UK, Netflix
Whilst this is not weird, I think the way that the person said it or worded it is a bit random and it stuck in my head. I fee l that this is a really random sentence and would work well as a scene as you could do so much with it.
“The largest box of washing powder that had ever existed” – Avocado Hotel, Bob Mortimer
This is such a random sentence but what do you expect from Bob Mortimer. This is from the book Avocado Hotel and as soon as I read it I instantly felt it would make a GREAT suggestion for an improv scene as it is so bizarre. I would love to see that.
“Handy dandy trusty dusty ” – Best Bakers of America, Food Network
If there is one thing about the judge Justin is that he makes up some really fun quirky southern sayings. This is from Best Bakers Of America – can’t remember what it was in relation to but I remember thinking it was absolutely brilliant!
