It is our birthday month so to celebrate I thought it would be fun to write a couple of articles to take you behind the scenes of the The Phoenix Remix. In this article I am going to talk about how the idea for the Improv Corner article came about.

I randomly started doing improv a few months after I started this site. I decided I wanted to keep a diary as I had so much fun. Looking back now, I am really glad that I did as it is insightful for others and allows me to relive all those great memories.

I wrote Improv Diaries all the way up to the start of the pandemic – I was either rehearsing, in lessons or in a show nearly every week of 2015 all the way through to March 2020. It is a record of my time in improv and I loved it and I think it important for people to also look at it to see things about improv and the joy it brings.

Improv Corner started due to being inspired by writing the Improv Diaries – I was learning so much that I wanted to create an article where I can talk about specific skills or improv in depth.

Over time, this has expanded so that I can also talk about specific topics such as how improv is represented in the media, features about specific topics and much more. Whilst I am not performing improv like I used to, I still really enjoy writing about it and get so much joy out of it.
