Welcome to a brand new feature that will be published every other week. I go to a lot of gigs and there are always little stories that come out of them that I always want to tell someone so what better place to do it!

Todays Gig: The Yungblud Experience

I love going to gigs and sometimes the best way to see a band or an act live is just to go song, not to expect anything and to make a judgement call on the actual person on stage in front of you. I used to go to a lot of gigs before night shifts to keep my adrenaline up overnight, even if it was an act that I had never listened to before. Back in 2019 near the end of the year, I saw that Yungblud was playing a gig so I decided to go.

I wasn’t sure whether to go or not, I had seen his Parents video and I wasn’t sure if I liked his music so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to actually go along as I had a feeling that his persona in his videos was going to lead to something big and I didn’t want to miss out on the chance to see someone like that in a small venue before the blow up.

When I turned up to the venue which I go to a lot, I realised that I was already late to the Yungblud party, whilst his name was starting to be known a little bit on more commercially it was obvious that he had a huge army of fans and the line was insane. I got talking to some of the super fans in the queue and they told me that the people at the front of the line had been there since 11pm the night before – considering this was a really small concert and there is a great view at every angle of the venue, this was crazy.

The room was absolutely packed and when he approached the stage the screams were so loud. I always find it interesting seeing musicians that you do not know much about live first as you really get to witness the whole ideology of the band and the world surrounding them and it was one that you definitely get sucked into when you see Yungblud. Dominic is a very good singer live that it made the whole show amazing and I walked away being a fan of his music. A musician I wasn’t a fan of and then one live show completely changed my opinion. It wasn’t the first time that has happened (more about that at a different time) and it certainly wont be the last.
