Taste Of States – This Week – SweeTarts Ropes

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

SWEETART ROPES

Today we are looking at a sweet that had a different spin on it and took a classic and made it slightly different. Before we look at today’s treat let’s look at the original version.

SweeTarts were created in 1962 by Menlo F Smith of Sunshine Incorporated. The candy is known for being sweet and sour candy. The original version is a circular candy of different colours that crumble or dissolve in the mouth to create tang. Over the years there has been many different versions of the sweet released and one of those was SweeTart Ropes.

In May of m2018, it was announced that a new addition was to be added to the SweeTart family Tangy Strawberry SweeTart Ropes. I cannot find the exact date as to when the ropes came about so let’s just have a look at this flavour today.

Ropes are defined as a bendable fruity liquorice with a filling in the middle. They are apparently tangy and sweet and sour.

These sweets have a really positive reaction online with people stating that they taste really good.
