Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
PIG IN THE MUD
I was watching Carnival Eats the other day and came across this treat that I had to mention on here. The problem is though I cannot find anymore information on it then I already have. So we are going to have a look at it with the limited information I have because I feel it is interesting.
Pig In The Mud was a treat that became available at a State Fair in New Jersey. It is something that proved popular because it brought bacon to a different level.
It takes smoked applewood bacon, deep fries it on a stick. Once the bacon is fried and crispy it is then covered with melted chocolate that is 50% dark and of high quality. The chocolate then is left to dry on the bacon so that it hardens.
Once it has hardened, it is then covered again in the same melted chocolate. It is then covered with crushed nuts, sprinkles and broken cookies.
I cannot find reviews online for Pig In the Mud but on the show it gained positive reviews .
