Get It On Tonite – Montell Jordan

Today we are looking at a single that was released in the late nineties by a musician who turned into a worship leader in 2010 for the Victory World Church in Narcross Georgia.

On the 28th September 1999, Montell Jordan released the single Get It On Tonite. It was from the fourth studio album of the same name. It was written by Brian Palmer and Sergio Moore and released under the record label of Def Soul.

It may sound familiar for two reasons. The first is that is samples Claudja Bammy’s 1976 single Love For The Sake Of Love. The second reason is it has been sampled on the other track such as Get It On Tonite by Azealia Banks.

The song did well in the charts and went into the top 20 in countries such as The Netherlands (9), Belgium (11), Canada (15) and US Billboard Hot 100 (4). In the UK it went into the charts at 15 and number 3 in the UK Hip Hop Charts.

There was also another version that was released with LL Cool J as a remix.
