The Travel Book – Auchmithie, Angus, Scotland

One thing that is great about Scotland is tat there is so much dramatic coastline and there are a lot of mini villages that you can visit which end up having these amazing views you may not of known even existed!

Auchmithie is a small fishing village located in Angus. It is a short drive away from Arbroath. If you are planning to go via transport, you get the train to Arbroath and then there is a hopper bus. You will need to plan the time you go as it only runs at certain parts of the day.

Whilst it is not used as such anymore, the harbour was constructed in 1889 by James Banon. Apparently Auchmithie is the place where the Arboath Smokie was founded (a specialised smoked haddock).

It is a location that is of interest to tourist due to the beach and the cliff coastal path to Arbroath and Lunan Bay. The cliffs are as high as 120ft and are formed of red sandstone.

I visited this area and loved it, the coastal path brings you these amazing views and it is truly breathtaking. It is actually wonderful and highly recommend it.
