Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
TEXAS TWISTER FRIES
Today we are heading to the Apache Oklahoma Rattle Snake Festival to take a look at some very beastly looking fries.
A Texas Twister is basically one long fry. The company that creates them has custom built their own potato peeler which twists the potato. It has an extended shaft which means it can del with 10 ounce potatoes.
The Texas Twister is a very long thin curly fry which has no breaks and is from a whole potato. Once it is all in a big curl it is then deep fried which is amazing to see as it fills the whole fryer tray – that is how big it is!
When they are finished cooking it they are placed in a big container piled high, seasoned and served up – crispy and crunchy!
