A Quick Conversation With...

INTERVIEW -A Quick Conversation with: Emeree

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to musician Emeree who is playing the Great Escape this weekend. On the 17th May she will be performing on the Sounds Australia Stage at 12:30. Today we ask Esmeree some difficult music questions.

What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?

My hardest lyric hasn’t been released yet but out of what I’ve released so far – “keepsakes, I hate the way I stayed. Each day you take up more of my space” from Spring Cleaning.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

I had someone on Tiktok compliment how smooth my armpits were once which I guess was a win?

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

So difficult to pick but I would have to say Thelma Plum is definitely up there – she’s a phenomenal performer and I’ve loved her music since I was in high school so that was quite surreal.

What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

Absolutely Smooth Honey. I love this song and I’m very proud of it, but it involves a series of two-octave jumps into my whistle register, live looping harmonies and some tricky runs so I have to be on my A-game when I perform it!

Dream Collaboration and why ?

RAYE!! She’s such a phenomenal songwriter that has really stepped into her own creative space – no one does it like her.
