Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a classic comedy novel.

Three Men In A Boat (1889)
Jerome K. Jerome
Synopsis
Martyrs to hypochondria and general seediness, J. and his friends George and Harris decide that a jaunt up the Thames would suit them to a ‘T’. But when they set off, they can hardly predict the troubles that lie ahead with tow-ropes, unreliable weather forecasts and tins of pineapple chunks – not to mention the devastation left in the wake of J.’s small fox-terrier Montmorency. Three Men in a Boat was an instant success when it appeared in 1889, and, with its benign escapism, authorial discursions and wonderful evocation of the late-Victorian ‘clerking classes’, it hilariously captured the spirit of its age.

Positive Points
This is a very funny book and it always has a lot of unpredictable parts in it that happen out of nowhere that create the comedy. It is a really great book and there is so much to like about it as the story is really fun.
Negative Points
The tangents may be annoying to some, initially the first chapter makes you think it will be depressing but it is the complete opposite.
Overall Review
A fantastic read, lots to enjoy, a great history of London and also it is evident to see where some classic comedy comes from.
