Movie Memories – This Week – Thumbelina

Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.

Film: Thumbelina
Original Release Date: 1994

I have always been surrounded by animation – I loved it as a kid and I love it just as much now. One film I remember seeing a lot as a child was Thumbelina – it was one of those films that as a child was a good film.

The film follows similar stories of other animations but I used to find it an enjoyable story, darkness with then a happily ever after – this happened a lot in the nineties and I used to really enjoy them.

I haven’t seen this film in years – I think maybe I might of tried to rewatch it as an adult but I cannot remember. This is where it gest weird – there are songs from the film that ever so often pop into my head.

There is a song where Thumbelina is being forced to marry a literal Mole – and sometimes the lyrics of this song will pop into my head (watch it below, its the deary marry the mole part), it is usually at really random times and then it becomes an earworm that you cannot get rid of. Funny the impact films can have on you.
