Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
It’s called ‘Drained’ and came out in January.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
“You have to pick up, between the lines / What is clear and undermined / They hope you give up, what you see / Keep you numb, and stay asleep.”
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
On this album, I really dig “Pictures of Us”
Your favourite song to play live:
I have not played live since my previous band Vary Lumar, which used to have a song called “The Jig Is Up”. If I had to imagine right now from Ghost on TV, “Drained” or “Daily Laws” would be a good time.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Writing “Turn It Back Around” took a bit. After the drums and bass were down, I had to revisit other parts many times, as I didn’t want to have a song where every party was rhythmically challenging. It was hard to find the glue to make it feel easy on the ears.
Your most emotional track:
“Crashonomics.”
Dream collaboration:
I think I have realized my favorites I would prefer not to. We would probably clash creatively in a strange way. That said, Beastie Boys or Talking Heads would be fun. Would have loved to collaborate with Bowie.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Naked and free. It’s a bit like floating, but not sure if you’re gonna fall until you strike the first note. It’s always nice to kill the first song and get the crowd going right away. That is the best feeling.
The hardest track to play live:
On this record, I assume it would be “Beckon”. That said, I wrote a song once with my previous band in which we played only once. Nailed it, but agreed it would never happen that way again.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I travel almost 40 percent of my year. It’s usually a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. The applications for this thing are wild. Besides that, earplugs, and nasal saline spray.
Describe your fans in three words:
Good all around.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
“Dont Look Back in Anger” by Oasis – it’s nearly perfect
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
Some shows, some follow up tracks, some art.
