Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Kyle: Our latest single is “Demons,“ which dropped on November 8th, 2024. It’s a song that’s deeply personal to me because it tackles struggles in all their forms. For me, it’s about the battles I’ve faced with my brain tumour and divorce, but I wanted it to be universal enough for anyone to connect with their own hardships. The whole idea was to create something raw and cathartic, and based on the response so far, I think we hit the mark.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
Kyle: Honestly, the whole first verse is extremely personal to me. After my brain surgery, I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to see again. I genuinely thought that part of my life was over, and those emotions really bled into the lyrics.
“You flipped the switch and the sun went out.
Preyed on my fear to keep me down.
Left me in the shadows thinkin’ I was done.
Had me counting down from ten to zero.
Without eyes, had to trust my gut,
Let go the rails and brave the dusk.
You did your worst, but I think you forgot,
I’m a fire breathing cosmic hero.”
It’s not just about physical recovery—it’s about regaining confidence and fighting back when the world feels like it’s stacked against you. That line, “I’m a fire-breathing cosmic hero,” is a declaration. It’s like looking negative energy in the eye and saying, “Fuck You. You can take me to the edge, but I’ll come back stronger every time.”
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
Kyle: Today, that would be “Tall Blonde Honey” or “Might Get Stoned.” Truthfully, though, my answer changes every time someone asks me this question. These tracks won’t be released until 2025. But they are all about letting loose and having fun. There’s something so satisfying about the raw, unapologetic energy in them. They have this playful vibe, but still pack a punch with the sound. It’s the kind of song you crank up loud on a summer road trip or at a party—it just hits right.
Erick: Since I’m the newest addition to the project, I’ve only worked on one released song – Demons. So that is my obvious favourite since a little piece of me is present in the song. There are also some new unreleased songs we’ve been working that I’m really excited about! But you’ll hear more about those later.
Your favourite song to play:
Kyle: Without a doubt, it’s “Mexico.” There’s something magical about how the trumpet weaves into the sultry, dangerous vibe of the song. When I play it, I feel transported to those smoky streets of Juárez. By the end of the song, I’m ready to check under my own fuckin’ shirt for Satan’s bite!
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Kyle: “Loved by You” was a real journey. It’s one of those songs where every word needed to be just right because it’s so personal. The themes of love, heartbreak, and self-reflection hit hard, and we didn’t want to rush it. Sometimes, the deeper you dig emotionally, the longer it takes to bring the vision to life. I’m proud – and I know that Greg is too – of how it turned out because it’s real, raw, and exactly what we wanted it to be.
Your most emotional track:
Kyle: That has to be “Demons.” There’s no way around it—it’s heavy. Writing it was an emotional process, almost like therapy. It forced us all to face some big things in our lives. It’s one of those songs where you give a piece of yourself.
Dream collaboration:
Kyle: I’ve got a few artists I’d absolutely love to work with. Courtney Hadwin has this raw, untamed energy that’s so electrifying—it’d be incredible to create something with her. Then there’s Jesse Murph, whose ability to infuse deep emotion into her music is just phenomenal. And Jelly Roll—man, he is killer. He brings such authenticity to his songs, and I think we could create something really powerful together.
Erick: Jakub Zytecki hands down. The man is just a brilliant composer, producer and guitarist with a unique, fresh sound.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Kyle: It’s pure electricity. There’s this incredible moment right before you step out where everything is still, but you can feel the energy buzzing from the crowd. Then you hit the stage, and it’s like stepping into another dimension. The adrenaline kicks in, and suddenly, you’re connected to everyone in the room—it’s this crazy mix of power and vulnerability. Whether there’s ten people or ten thousand – there’s nothing else like it.
The hardest track to play live:
Kyle: Not one of ours… I once played in a jazz cover band. Some of that s*** was insane to pull off.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Kyle: I’ve got a checklist that never changes:
- My guitars and drumsticks—because obviously.
- A notebook and recorder for getting down song ideas—it’s amazing how inspiration strikes at the most random times on the road.
- My Netflix account & a good music playlist. Usually our Artist Pick playlist
- Something that reminds me of home, like a keepsake or photo. Touring is amazing, but it’s also a grind, and having a piece of home keeps me grounded.
- And, of course, coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. And Diet Pepsi. And Iced Tea Zero. And Slushies… yeah…yummmmmmmmy
Erick: Besides for the actual stuff we need to do our job, I always bring a spare set of ear plugs with me. Not just to block our Greg’s loud snoring in the car but also to protect my ears from long term damage. Being a loud environment every night is really bad for hearing and my ears are my most valuable asset as a composer/producer. So before/after the show I’ll pop them and enjoy listening to the other bands at a reduced level.
Describe your fans in three words:
Kyle: Loyal, passionate, connected. They’re the kind of people who don’t just listen—they feel the music. They show up, they download the songs, they hang with us on socials, they sing along, and remind us why we do this. It’s a community, a family, not just a fanbase.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Kyle: There are so many, and I’m sure I switch them around a bit, but “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd comes to mind immediately. That song is timeless—it’s poetic, emotional, and hits you on a soul-deep level every time you hear it. Writing something that resonates across generations like that is the dream.
Erick: Move Me’ by half alive. I love how they make a 7/8 time signature feel natural in a mostly commercial context. And just a great song.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
Kyle: 2025 is going to be massive. We’re rolling out a string of singles, including “Tall Blonde Honey,” “Waves,” “Might Get Stoned,” and “Bad.” The goal is to connect with as many people as possible, whether that’s through our music or just the stories we’re sharing. Keep an eye out—we’re just getting started!
