Sunday Book Club: Listen for the Lie, Amy Tintera

Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a fiction thriller about someone not being sure they committed a murder…

Listen for the Lie
(2024)

Amy Tintera

Synopsis

Lucy Chase can’t remember anything about the night her best friend was murdered.
Lucky her, you’re probably thinking. Who would want that to be their last memory of someone they love?
But for Lucy, it’s become an issue.

Because everyone thinks she did it.

But that was five years ago, and Lucy has put it all behind her. Or at least, she thought she had, until an interfering yet not bad-looking podcaster offers her the opportunity to join his investigation into the night she forgot.

On the one hand, if she’s a murderer, it’s probably better to know – right? On the other, if she didn’t do it, she’ll be putting herself back in the sights of the person who did.

And either way, if you’ve already killed once, what’s to stop you from

Positive Points

This book is a real page turner and it really reels you in from the start because it is such an easy book to read. There are lots of twists and turns that keep you gripped to your page as you read. The story comes to life through the podcast segments as well as the first person perspective from Lucy makes the book really interesting as a concept.

Negative Points

It has some violence in it so be aware if you are not a fan of this.

Overall Review

I came across this book by accident and I am glad I did as I couldn’t put it down. It is 410 pages and I read it over 3 days as it was so addictive. A thriller I highly recommend. I would not be surprised if this gest turned into some sort of television show or film in the future.
