Every day this month we are taking a look at a variation of couples from different television shows. It is the month of ‘love’ so it in tradition we are looking at the world of relationships. There will be spoilers throughout so be warned!

Day 7 – Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago, Brooklyn 99

If there is something that is great about Brooklyn 99 then it is the build up of Jake and Amy. It is a typical American sitcom where it waits until season two for anything to actually happen but it is fun when it actually occurs.

The thing that is great about this is they are complete opposites but make each other better. When Amy starts to date Jake she is not afraid of showing her ‘weirdness’ now which is great and also hilarious.

Another thing that is great about this duo is that Jake loves Amy to have her own independence. You don’t see that a lot in shows and that is why it is so fantastic – the fact they embrace her love for her career as well as having the romance.

It is a very comedic relationship that does take the front at times but unlike other comedies it does not become the most important thing at times it is more about the workplace and the friendships.
