Every day this month we are taking a look at a variation of couples from different television shows. It is the month of ‘love’ so it in tradition we are looking at the world of relationships. There will be spoilers throughout so be warned!

Day 3 – Howard and Bernadette, The Big Band Theory

There are many couples that I could of spoken about in relation to The Big Bang Theory but I thought I would talk about a couple that were initially quite and then they turned and developed into these big, bold and powerful duet.

When Bernadette first appears on the show, she is shy, reserved and has similarities to Howard but they are not really explored. It is only when you see more of her that you start to realise that she has a huge personality and can really take Howard on.

There are some really nice parts of their relationship such as the song Howard sings for their anniversary, the wedding, when he finds out she is pregnant etc. There are also some parts that show they also bond on their ‘evil side’ such as impersonating Sheldon, the car space and the closet cleaning.

It is one of those relationships that creates great comedy but also is pretty romantic at times (such as the star necklace that goes to space) which contrasts to what Howard used to be. It sort of redefines who Howard is and forces him to grow up.
