Every day this month we are taking a look at a variation of comedy couples from different television shows. It is the month of ‘love’ so it in tradition we are looking at the world of relationships.There will be spoilers throughout so be warned!

Day 1 – Miranda and Gary, Miranda

There are some couples in comedy who are there as sort of a feel good thing as well as a romance side, I would say that Miranda and Gary are definitely one of these type of couples.

Right from the start of the show there is an automatic connection because of their friendship history but it isn’t really about will they or won’t they for the audience, it is more about the silliness they get up to.

There are some really fun moments between them throughout the whole show – examples including when Miranda gets caught ‘holidaying’ in the local hotel, the random dates they have and the fights – it is pure silliness!

The thing I like about it is that throughout the whole show, Miranda is constantly putting herself down and all the time questioning herself why someone like Gary would be interested in someone like her. That is not the funny part, the hilarity comes from when they take this ‘good looking’ guy and turn him human when he is scared of things like Mice or scary films that make him less the perfect male and takes him to the level of Miranda. It is simple but works so well.

They are a couple that create pure escapism. It always has a sense of happiness, even in the negative times it is hilarious ad that is why it is a comfort watch for so many people.
