Ones To Watch 2025 – INTERVIEW – Nate Perry & Ragged Company pt.3

All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2025. Leading the interviews is Boston based band Nate Perry & Ragged Company. Every Wednesday morning we will be speaking to the band to find out all about them and what they have in store for this year. Today we are going to talk about rehearsals and shows!

How do you warm up for a show?

Coffee and singing in the car mostly.

How do you wind down afterwards?

Guinness.

Tell us about the day of a show – what is the process your band goes through to get ready?

We each have our own pre-show rituals. Some of us have records we always listen to, others have certain superstitions, but most importantly, we all know what not to eat or drink before a show. Lesson one: Skip the gas station sushi.

How many times do you rehearse before a show?

It depends, if our show schedule is tight then typically so are we. But if we are in a slower time then we’d typically like to have at least several rehearsals under our belt before a show. We like to be very rehearsed.

What are some of the most important lessons you have learnt about music whilst being in band?

The song always comes first, and the best idea wins. You don’t get anywhere with an ego and you have to listen to those around you.

How do you feel when you get up on stage?

There’s always nerves before a show and especially right before we’re on. But once I’m on stage, the adrenaline wins and I have a blast.

We are based in the UK do you have any plans to tour over here?

Is that an invitation? [laughs] But yes, absolutely. We’re developing contacts and hope to pull it off relatively soon.
