Todays Gig: Sunshine Underground

The first ever gig I went to was Sunshine Underground at the London Astoria. I went with my friend from college and we were so excited. When we got in we ended up being at the front and I was amazed to see how a gig was set up.

The first act up was called The Whip who were so fun and produced some great songs live (I ended up interviewing them quite a few times through MySpace for the University magazine.) Then the at we had come to see came on and we were all so excited to see them and to this day I think it was one of the worst gigs I have been to. To be fair it is important to say it is no fault of the band.

The band approached the stage and throughout the set didn’t really communicate to the audience which I didn’t really enjoy and also didn’t really understand even though it was my first time at a gig. Also I always thought that bands spent time talking loads to the audiences I didn’t realise they sometimes didn’t.

Right from the start they were experiencing technical difficulties with their instruments and had a major issue. The whole show felt really off, they approached the stage later then they were meant to and also left the stage really early as well.

Now I think it is important to say that even though it was a shambles of a show, I really enjoyed what I did see and it was a lot of fun. It was probably a really bad day for the band so I never held it against them however it was a bad gig and left my first ever gig feeling and wondering what I would of felt like walking away from a great gig.
