There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

I love France and the one thing I have noticed many times I have neem there is that the sunsets and the sunrises can be really spectacular. Today’s photograph was taken in Lyon.

It was February, we were up early because we were going on a mini adventure to Dijon. This was the sunrise that we were welcomed to and it was absolutely astonishing.

I have only ever seen two bright purple skies before in my life – one was in Lyon and the other was in Arcachon in another part of France on Christmas Day.

I love this photograph as the reflection of the colour purple is vibrantly reflecting in the water. I love the silhouette of the tree’s and the birds in the sky. It makes a really extraordinary view.

It always brings back happy memories and a smile on my face.
