All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2025. Today it is the time to put Last Dogs of Ultimo in the limelight and find out what he has in store for the year.
How was 2024 for you?
2024 had its ups and downs with our release strategy but we are doing well now we are back in the studio recording some new songs we are also looking forward to playing the new material live soon
What was the top 3 highlights for you?
I have recorded and toured many times with Smokey Poe over the years and it was a pleasure to get away to Byron Bay to record in The Smokey Poe Studios. It was also great to meet and record with Kymin Kaos who has just relocated here in Melbourne from New Zealand and the response we had from The Grinding our last single has been great.
What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?
We live in uncertain times with global hostilities and corporate greed being on top of the News feeds all year. So I don’t take anything for granted and I’m grateful to be able to make art and share that to spread a little positive joy
What are your plans for 2025?
I’m heading to the UK to write and perform with a UK based artist that is very exciting. I am hoping to repay the favour and have them come to Melbourne to record and perform.
What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?
Oasis are back on the road again. I’m excited to see who gets the support for their shows out here in Australia
What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?
I always enjoy electronic experimental punk sounds, something that has an edgy ambience in the mix, Hearing hearing a bit more Trip hop and jazz beats would be nice,
What band is your ones to watch in 2025 and why?
Here in Australia we have a great band The Party Dozen are Killing it right now a drum and Sax duo from Sydney. Using a huge pedal board and mic up of the sax player Kirsty makes incredible sounds to compliment the Drum and beats
Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?
Our resolution would be to try to stay focussed on the project as it continues to evolve and we try to bring on more collaborations. This becomes more interesting as we are constantly meeting more diverse and interesting artists
Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about your troupe?
Yeah we try to be active on social media.. We try to use them to keep people informed of any upcoming projects or Gigs or support for our friends
Three words why people should come and see you this year?
Respect Resist Revolt
