Ones To Watch 2025 – INTERVIEW – Talkradio

All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2025. Today it is the time to put Talkradio in the limelight and find out what he has in store for the year.

Hello tell us all about yourself?

My name is Alex, and I’m a solo artists under the name “Talkradio”. I perform all the vocals and play the drums/percussion, guitars, and keyboard/piano. I also write all the music and lyrics, as well as create the artwork for my releases.

How was 2024 for you?

Musically, it’s been very quiet. I’ve only been gigging once a month with my acoustic duo.

What were the top 3 highlights for you?

Well the biggest highlight would be getting married. We’ve been together for 12 years. We originally said that we didn’t need to get married, but lately she had been changing her mind so we figured, we may as well. I honestly can’t think of another 2. It’s mostly been a year of transition for me in many ways, and not necessarily good ways.

What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?

It seems almost impossible to get people’s attention. I don’t really know how any independent artist can get their streaming numbers up. I’ve heard some great artists, then when I look at their Spotify page, they show only a handful of plays per month. It’s pretty depressing.

What are your plans for 2025?

I will be back in the studio. The plan is to record 5 new tracks.

What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?

Pearl Jam. They will be here in November. I can’t wait.

What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?

Anything but the electronic, fake vocal stuff that currently floods the mainstream.

What band is your ones to watch in 2025 and why?

It was going to be Twelve Foot Ninja, until they broke up recently. That was upsetting. I don’t have anyone else I’m overly excited about yet.

Do you have any new year’s resolutions? If so what are they?

I’ve never made new year’s resolutions. I’m the type of person who will go and do whatever idea pops up in my head. I don’t procrastinate. As a result, I never have any resolution I need to make.

Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about your troupe?

You can find me on www.facebook.com/talkradio.aus. You can also find a big list of streaming services that have my music via my website www.talkradioaus.com.au.

Three words why people should come and see you this year?

“No live shows”. Like I mentioned, I do this alone, so I can’t really play this stuff live. It would be a pretty amazing feat if it were possible though, right?
