I Want You Back -Mel B Feat. Missy Elliott
Today we are going to look at a single that was a debut for one of the Spice Girls. It was also a song that was released as part of the Original Soundtrack for the film Why Do Falls Fall In Love.
On the 14th September 1998, Mel B released the single I Want You Back. It also featured the musician Missy Elliott. Both musicians wrote the song along with Gerard Thomas and Donald Holmes. It was also produced by Missy Elliott and released under the record label of Virgin. The single also came from Mel B’s debut album Hot which was released in 2000.
The single occurred because Missy Elliott contacted Mel B stating that she had a song for her and that is how the collaboration happened.
The song did reasonably well in the charts and went into the top 20 in Australia (12), Belgium (10), Ireland (6), Netherlands (6) and New Zealand (20). In the UK the single went to number 1 in the charts and the Hip Hop charts and went to number 3 in the UK Dance chart. It also went to certified silver in the UK selling over 200,000 copies
