Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Dead Tooth

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Our latest single Birthday Boohoo just came out on Greenway Records with a completely psychotic remix by Oliver Ackerman of A Place to Bury Strangers. It’s almost 5 minutes long and it’s about taking a bunch of mushrooms and walking into your own surprise birthday party in the middle of an existential crisis.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

“Now I’m trying hard to pretend that ain’t never seen your only fans”  sometimes you end up in a conversation with someone and you know you recognize them from somewhere.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Birthday Boohoo

Your favourite song to play live:

Birthday Boohoo is really fun. It’s kind of like an endurance battle. It just keeps going and getting more intense.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

Zach: Birthday Boohoo. It started as a demo that Iwrote in my room. It was just an A and B section and a bunch of lyrics. We had some extra time in the studio when we recorded Sporty Boy and Electric Earth so at the end we jammed on the two parts to a click track for about 20 minutes. I then took those stems and essentially remixed them very meticulously finding all the hooks I liked and built parts around the lyrical narrative. Then we learned that version of the song live and eventually took it back to the studio and laid down a live version

Your most emotional track:

Hmmm that’s a tough one. We have some newer stuff that’s a bit more emo but of the stuff that’s out probably Electric Earth “If I had a dime for every lie I’d never buy another truth and I would die just to show you that love is blind when love is true” is pretty emo

Dream collaboration:

Gonna cast a wide net here: Sharon Van Ettan, RXKnephew, Pete & Bas

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Like it’s my birthday

The hardest track to play live:

Birthday Boohoo. It’s a real endurance battle. Especially for pour Mikey behind the drums. When our old drummer Ginno bowed out we had pretty meticulous drummer auditions and that song was always the ultimate test .

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

I take lot’s of supplements with me. Getting sick on tour is the worst so I try to keep this immune system in tip top shape.

Describe your fans in three words:

Very sweet people

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Gold Teeth by Little Wings

What we can look forward to from your band in 2025

New Music!!! At the least an EP. Maybe a full length? More touring
