The festive period is here and there are so many shows that are available for audiences to go and watch! Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to lots of different shows and performers about what they have in store for this time of year! Today we find out all about the show That’ll Be The Day: So This Is Christmas is touring around the United Kingdom and today we find out all about it.
Hello tell us a little bit about yourself!
I started singing in a band in the early 60’s and played guitar back then. Mostly resident positions so learning all the latest releases week on week. Moved into cabaret when disco came in, worked on the act constantly and was able to travel abroad extensively with my act ‘Fizzical’
Then joined a Rock & Roll show which I eventually took over and became That’ll Be The Day. There was no plan, it just happened and I was born lucky.
What is the show that you are bringing to the stage in this Festive season?
That’ll Be The Day is a nostalgic look at the changing nature of pop music from the 50’s through to the 80’s
It’s unique in its structure combining great musicianship, and vocal harmonies with some impersonations interspersed with comedy. It’s ever evolving with a complete year on year makeover.
That’ll Be The Day: So This Is Christmas is infused with festive cheer and the nations favourite festive tunes!
Will there be a bit of festivity in your show?
That’ll Be The Day: So This Is Christmas is entirely festive. We aim to lift spirits and leave our audiences firmly in the mood for the festive season. We’re excited to take this new edition of the show on the road and visit so many fantastic venues across the country – the whole team works hard to deliver the highest possible quality production and keep everything fresh for our wonderful audiences who return year after year. Christmas starts right here!
What are your favourite things about the festive season and why?
My favourite thing is that everyone seems to be in a better mood around Christmastime. It’s time to celebrate – and our show celebrates that.
This time of year the venues tend to be a bit busier as well – do you find that the audience changes at all?
We have an incredibly loyal following of That’ll Be The Day – with some audience members having seen over 1000 of our shows over the years. For The Christmas Show, we do attract new faces as well as the familiar, which brings a lovely atmosphere to the shows.
What advice would you give for people performing around the festive season?
Not too corny, there are some great Christmas songs. Pick the right songs and don’t get too twee about it.
What is the best thing about a night at your show for the audience?
I want all who come to see That’ll Be The Day to go home on a high, feeling better than when they came in. We give value for money and have a team on and off-stage delivering pound for pound the highest quality, leaving our fans wanting to see the next episode.
As several critics and fans have said
“There’s Nothing Like It”
