Your latest improv show:

We’re starting an Improv Anything night, with some top guest acts playing too – on the 26th October at the Wanstead Tap our guest acts are Gamez and Shaken Not Stirred: The Improvised James Bond Film. Plus a group of improv legends performing Improv Anything.

Your favourite suggestion you have been given?

We once used a radio to inspire some scenes, with the consumer hour on LBC proving to be great for inspiring improv.

Your favourite venue to perform at:

There’s loads of excellent improv venues now. But for me, nothing will replace the feeling of when I performed improv for an audience for the first time 18 years ago at a small coffee shop in Sheffield.

Improv hero:

Improv Anything has allowed me to perform with lots of improvisers I really love watching like Monica Gaga and Susan Harrison, but my improv hero is Steve Roe for the sense of fun he has on stage and the community he’s built off stage. 

Dream venue to play at:

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Ideally as the support act for Beyonce. Or Beyonce supporting us. Either’s fine! 

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Pretty relaxed, most of the time. I love the feeling of going on stage and not having to think about anything. 

The hardest improv suggestion to perform and why:

I don’t mind a hard suggestion. That being said, the suggestion of ‘improv’ can be tricky. It can get very meta and starts to feel like the universe might fold in on itself. 

Essential items you always take with you to a show?

With Improv Anything there’s often some props to help inspire the improv with audience help. At the last show I had an etch-a-sketch, a children’s joke book and Rorschach Test cards.

Looking forward to doing more exciting Improv Anything shows and getting loads of awesome improv performers and acts involved!
