Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.
Film: Bedknobs & Broomsticks
Original Release Date: 1971
Age is a really interesting thing – as you get older, your opinions change on things – it happened to me with things like spicy food and coffee and me and the film Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks is a film that was played quite a bit when I was a kid I could never really get into it. There were parts of the film I really enjoyed but as a kid the soldiers marching at the end I didn’t really like it.
Since becoming an adult, I have changed my perception on the film. I both understand and appreciate the film a lot more now then I did and I enjoy it a lot more now as well. When I was a kid the underwater scene was my favourite and whilst I still like this part I adore the Portobello Road song even more now.
It really is a wonderful Disney classic and I am really glad that I have now learnt to appreciate it.

- This was the last Disney movie released while Roy O. Disney was still alive. He died a week after its U.S. premiere.
