Tell us about:
Your latest improv show:
LADIES WHO IMPROV features four Manchester based improvisers who find the funny in the weird and wonderful. They will play a variety of short form games, based on audience suggestions and debut as a team at this year’s Women in Comedy Festival.
Your favourite suggestion you have been given?
‘Hoover’ – this led to the team becoming hoovers in a house and a lot of hilarity and chaos was created .
Your favourite venue to perform at:
A tricky one, but I will go with a local one, the Fierce Bar in Manchester. A great little stage that always gets a really nice audience in .
Improv hero:
The late great Robin Willams. A true hero and comedy legend.
Dream venue to play at:
Apart from the Lost Cat in the Northern Quarter (which is where the LADIES WHO IMPROV show will be performing!), it would have to be somewhere embedded in improv, like The Second City stage in Chicago or Toronto.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I find it so freeing. I rarely get nervous before doing improv as literally anything goes and there’s no lines to learn. I find it thrilling and there is no feeling that beats it.
The hardest improv suggestion to perform and why:
I should be careful in case someone reads this and shouts it out on the 10th October! I guess it would have to be something like a character suggestion and the audience say a stand up comedian. As we are doing improv, it will hopefully be funny anyway, so setting it up too much can actually be a little less fun or freeing. Although you can YES AND with the suggestion and then take that to be someone with the same name but is in fact a vet or what not.
Essential items you always take with you to a show?
Bottle of water is a must to hydrate. I also bring an extra t-shirt just in case anyone needs one (food mishap) or simply to refresh for all of our fans waiting post show.
Describe your fans in three words:
Wise, trustworthy, legends.
What we can look forward to from you this year:
My sketch show SKETCHY may make a return and I have just started to rehearse with another fantastic improv team in Manchester… with shows soon to be announced!
