NEW FEATURE – New Album Deep Dive – INTERVIEW – Unleashed XX, EXILIA

Welcome to a brand new feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to the alternative metal band EXILIA about the album UnleashedXX.

Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!

Ciao! Nice to meet you! We’re EXILIA, an alternative metal band from Milan, Italy. We’ve been creating music together for over 20 years now, blending aggressive riffs with melodic hooks. Our music is a reflection of our deep passion, boundless energy, and the world around us. We aim to connect with our fans through powerful lyrics and dynamic performances, bringing a unique and emotional experience to every song.

Tell us about the new album

Our latest release is “UnleashedXX”, a special CD package celebrating 20 years since our first record. We’ve remastered every track to give them new life, added some new songs, and included special versions of our classics. It’s a journey through our history and a fresh look at our evolution as a band. The new single “Like An Avalanche” is a powerful testament to our growth and resilience.

Favourite track in new album and why?

My favourite track is “Like An Avalanche”. It captures the intense emotion and energy that defines EXILIA. The song is a mix of our signature aggressive sound and melodic depth, representing both our roots and how far we’ve come.

Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?

The recording process for “UnleashedXX” was a mix of nostalgia and excitement. Revisiting our older tracks and bringing them up to date was a rewarding challenge. We worked hard to enhance each song while staying true to its original spirit. Adding new songs to the mix was also thrilling, as it allowed us to showcase our current sound and creative direction.

Tell us the idea behind the album cover?

The cover was created by Olga Kann. It is a revisit of the original, incorporating her vision and adding a contemporary global perspective.

What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

“Heaven’s Gate” will probably be the most challenging to perform live. It has intricate arrangements and a lot of emotional depth, which requires us to be technically precise while delivering a powerful performance.

Why should people listen to the album?

Because it is a masterpiece.
