All this month, we are taking a look back at articles we have written earlier this year – today we look at an article written in April about how to plan walks in Scotland

I moved to Scotland just over a year and a half ago, it was a big move from London but I love the fact there is so much to explore in the great outdoors up here.

It was only when I started to make a new friend through a wood working course that I discovered an app and website that if you are visiting the area you have to use it.

Walk Highlands is a website which gives you in depth detail about walks and hikes that you can go throughout the whole of Scotland. You go onto the website, click the area you want to visit and it will give you options of the walks that you can do in that area.

The great thing about the app is that it gives you information as to how difficult it is, the distance and the time it will take to do the walk.

Since being told about this website, I use it non-stop. I love the fact it gives in depth descriptions of the walking route which is constantly updated (for example if it is closed due to flooding or damage) and also provides photographs of key sections of the walk.

If you are visiting Scotland any time soon, I highly recommend using this website for safety and knowledge. Also, if you are going to walk in Scotland make sure you are wearing the appropriate attire, have water and download the app as well as What 3 Words to stay safe.
