Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m John Rayment. I’m an actor, based in darkest Essex. I’ve been working on TIMELESS for a few years now, since its creation by playwright, Brian Coyle, who very kindly asked if I’d like to perform it.

Tell us all about your show!

TIMELESS is a solo show about a man who hasn’t been able to make any new memories for ten years. He’s a London cabbie, and still has the encyclopaedic “Knowledge” of London Streets… but he can’t remember anything from the last decade – not even yesterday. The play shows, with humour, and with tenderness, how this affects him, his family, and every aspect of his life.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?

Ah well, you’d have to ask Brian Coyle, the writer, that – but “TIMELESS” is a great title, because Martin, the character in the play, has very little sense of the days passing – every day, he rediscovers his life all over again.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Too numerous to mention, but I’m particularly keen to see “GOOD BOY”, written and performed by James Farley, which has the same producer as TIMELESS, the fabulous Sarah Lawrie.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

Once, around 15 years ago. Pace yourself; it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Don’t know yet – my routine 15 years ago was that of a much younger man than I am now!

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

Watch as many things as you can, at least a couple of things you think you might not like, and immerse yourself in it all…

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Almost any of the great little fast food outlets around Bristow Square.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Being surrounded by people who just love watching theatre.

Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?

Remember how hilly the city is! Wear comfy shoes.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Venue lanyard; Fringe Society app; Paracetamol
