Hello! Tell us about yourself?

No idea how to answer this question as it’s so open-ended so I guess I’ll say: I’ve been to Bird World three times in my life. They say you do it twice in your career, but I’ve proved you can do it twice with your grandparents, then on a date – with over a decade between visits. I wonder what the refresh rate on the birds is, if I was to guess on how long a bird lives I’d have to say maybe 10 years. If I met a bird that was too old for a young-person’s railcard I think I’d scream.

Tell us all about your show!

It’s a stand up comedy show that finally answers the question: what’s the deal with airline food? Nahhhhhh, it’s about me telling the truth, something I started in my show last year and then everyone was like “oh Stuart, this is great, we love this” so now I gotta keep doing it. What a huge stroke of luck that I then had a bunch of fascinating things happen to me. I’ve been to all 7 continents, stick that in the show.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?

I thought: what would be a stupid thing to call your show and would feel like a follow on to last year’s “Stuart Laws? Is That Guy Still Going?”. My agent said “how about going for something a little less in-jokey?” And I said “how about I never achieve mainstream success?” And she said “thanks for 15% of nothing”.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

No one. It’s startling how shit the lineup is this year. Get Netflix and pop on anything that looks like they spent half a million on lighting and don’t bother with whatever shit is dragged up to a fringe festival. If you are insisting on attending then I would recommend Ruby Carr, Alex Kealy, Amy Matthews, Marjolein Robertson.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I’ve done it since 2011 and my advice is simple: stay out my way unless you’re looking for a knuckle sandwich.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Depends. If people aren’t staying out my way it can be a 20 knuckle sandwich day. And I have to stress that’s not just 4 punches, that’s my full set of knuckles and 20 individuals. If I’m left in peace then I’ll wake up at 4am, head to newsagent, wait till newsagent is open, press ups, push ups and then slide downs, 6am I do a paper round, 845am finish paper round, 9am catch up with old school friends, 10am expose a conspiracy, 11am rescue orphans from a burning orphanage, 12pm explain to the police why I’m always in the vicinity of orphanages that are victims of arson, 2pm steaks and old fashioned, 3pm raise the stakes with some old fashioned views, 4.45pm do my show, 5.45pm asleep in uber home and it drives round all night until I wake the next day, Repeat.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

Try not to squeeze too much into your day, have a nice lie in.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

A little place called Church, you should try it.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

The screams, the pleas for their money back.

Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?

Dirigible. I’ve travelled around the Edinburgh Fringe by dirigible for the last ten years and it’s unrivalled. Had the same pilot for the last six years and they’re a diamond.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Condom, femidom, wisdom.

what’s the secret to successful flyering?

It’s spelt flying and I’ve already answered: a great dirigible pilot.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

If someone has read all this and wants to follow me then that puts them on a watch list.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

As a prank.
