Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
SPICY JAMBALAYA MIX
Today we are heading down the food cupboard aisle to have a look at something that makes rice maybe a bit more interesting for some customers.
The product we are looking at today is created by the company Zatarain. The brand was founded in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1889. The company is known for creating Cajun and creole based foods and seasoning and spices.
Zatarain’s spicy Jambalaya Mix is a product that aims to help make in simple one pot dinner. Each bracelet contains long grain white rice, onions, bell peppers with traditional New Orleans seasonings. The only thing you may want is to add meat to it.
Each packet prides itself for not having artificial flavours, no MSG and no artificial colours. Each one pot meal takes around 30 minutes to cook.
Each pack has 226 grams of rice. There are 160 calories per serving and 0.5 grams of fat.
There are a lot of positive reviews online with some interesting comments about how some customers add fresh vegetables to create more flavour and creativity but it is a good base.
