Films are something that we all look towards for escapism – the action, the humour, the romance, the animation. Sometimes these can hold so much more meaning then just an image on a screen and create narratives and memories in our own lives. Welcome to the sister article to Music Memories where we take a look at some of these personal stories attached to films.
Film: Unchartered
Original Release Date: 2022
I discovered the world of Unchartered very late – it was given away for free by Playstation in lockdown and due to the situation and because it was so addictive, I became an instant fan, spent way too much time playing it and fell in love with the story and how good the game play was.
It was such a great narrative that I was waiting for the day someone made it into a fil or a television series as the narrative was really strong. It wasn’t needed, it was great as it was but I knew it was coming….and it did.
I saw the announcements that Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg was going to be in the film version and I had very mixed opinions about this.
I was a fan of Tom Holland’s from Spiderman but never seen him in anything else and was a bit worried that he was too young for the role. Mark Wahlberg films are very hit or miss in my opinion so I was incredibly nervous when he was attached to Sully.
It took me a long time to get around to watching this as I was nervous they were going to ruin it that I avoided it. The day then came that I decided to watch it.
It was so much better then I had imagined and was so impressed as as to how much they kept referring to specific parts of the game. For those who had not played the game it may just look like your average action film but for me it so much more!
The little details were great, they really had respected the game. If you watched it and not played the game you may not of got the same effect or impact that I did but as a game fan it was great.
I love this film and hoping there will be a part two.
