Hello! Tell us about your act ?

Hi! We are an improvised a cappella long form narrative musical based in London

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to the Brighton fringe?

You mix acapella and improv you get ACAPROV!

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

It is a long form narrative musical aiming to be a real, touching, entertaining musical like any other – it just happens to be improvised.

What can people expect from your Brighton Fringe performance?

Great harmonies, cool rap and beatboxing, energetic body-percussion and lots of touching scenes and enthusiastic dance numbers.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

TAP at the BN1 Arts Centre

Circus Abyssinia: Ethiopian Dreams at The Vault Fools Paradise the week before us

Jai un bleu May 14th at Fabrica

Displaced at C Arts

How are the rehearsals going?

Delightful. Each member leads rehearsals in their own particular strength choosing from rap, beatboxing, body-percussion, conducting, acting, improv, singing or dance

Have you done the fringe before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

Yes we do Brighton every year, usually at the Walrus. Our favourites to date are ‘Sleepy village’ set just outside Brighton and ‘A Chipshop on the moon!’

What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Brighton Fringe next year?

Get your family and friends to book trips to watch you! It is so nice when people travel to Brighton to support and meet the incredibly friendly locals. Plus you all get to enjoy the beach, fish and chips and other shows together afterwards.

What is the best thing about performing at the Brighton fringe?

The people! It feels like a home from home, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

What are your three favourite things about Brighton?

The People

The Restaurants

The Sea!

Leafleting and promotion through the streets of Brighton is a huge part of the festival – what are your tips for flyering?

Get a licence! It is not legal this year without one. Sign up to Fringe City so you can perform tasters of your show on the street and entice more people in!

Tell us about your average day on a festival show run?

Lie in. Healthy breakfast, some do yoga, some go for a swim, some do social media and check the ticket sales. Then we all head out to flyer and sell tickets via word of mouth. We attend as many shows as possible and also warm up outside to draw attention and find curious locals to invite to the shows.

Performing by the sea as well, that surely makes the fringe all that much more fun?

Absolutely, swimming is a great way to feel fresh! We usually have pebble skimming competitions as well.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Linn Manuel Miranda – in the hoping he’d get up and join in!

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

We are @AcaprovMusical on all social media platforms

And Finally finish this sentence – ‘you should see our show at Brighton Fringe because….

You can inspire a once in a lifetime musical and feel part of all the fun we’re having making it!
