The Travel Book – Travel Through A Photo – Praia da Ponta do Sol, Madeira, Portugal

There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

I have spoken about Madeira a few times on this feature and that is because it is a very pretty place – there are many locations on the island that takes fantastic photographs as well as also being just wonderful to view in reality. Today we are going to look at a town that I visited that I really enjoyed and also loved because of the coastal view.

There are some wonderful towns in Madeira and this is one that I visited a couple of times when I was on the island. Praia da Ponta do sol is quite a small town with coffee shops and boutiques but the thing that stands out the most is the coastline. It is rough, rustic and creates this wonderful imagery is the buildings are on the cliff faces.

This photo was taken the other side of the beach and I really liked it because it creates this really dramatic scene – bright coloured buildings on top of dark rustic rocks with these huge waves crashing against it.

I really like this photo as it brings back some really fun memories – I remember it was a bit chilly and very windy that is why the waves look like they are quite high.

It is one of those locations you see on Instagram and feel jealous you have not been – well for me I have and I loved it.
