A Quick Conversation With...

INTERVIEW -A Quick Conversation with: The Amplifier Heads

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to the band The Amplifier Heads who are set to release They Came Rock this month! I spoke to the band to ask them difficult questions to find out they thoughts on music.

What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?

Sal Baglio: I do not know about the hardest lyric, but the longest took about four decades. “Strawberry Girls” was started around 1980 but never completed. I had the title and music but lyrics escaped me until years later when the song became a story of looking back to the Summer of 1971. “Strawberry Girls” can be found on The Peppermint Kicks record that Dan Kopko and I made together in 2021 on Rum Bar Records.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

The weirdest gift would be a jar of hot stuffed peppers. The weirdest compliment is when someone asked “Is Sal Baglio your real name?”

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

The Beach Boys with Carl & Dennis.

What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

The songs from The Amplifier Heads’ 2021 record Music For Abandoned Amusement Parks.

Dream Collaboration and why ?

There’s too many to name! NRBQ (Terry Anderson, Joey Spampinato, Big Al Anderson & The Late Tommy Ardolino), Ray Davies, Moondog… But if I had to pick one it would be to play “The Sheik of Araby” with my father one more time.
