Day 28 – When Harry Met Sally

This film has to be mentioned, because when you think of rom coms this is usually the one that everyone talks about and no not just because of that cafe scene.

Here’s the synopsis:

Harry and Sally have known each other for years, and are very good friends, but they fear sex would ruin the friendship.

I have always believed from a very early age that one day I will find the ‘one’ and it will be a friend. All my relationships have developed from friendships and I feel they are the strongest. However it also means that quite a handful of times it has been unrequited and a lot of hurt. I used to deliberately go out my way to be friends with people I liked so that even if nothing happened I would always be able to enjoy their company no matter what, so in some ways the hurt was my own fault.

However saying that, I also learnt from a very young age that guys make amazing friends and I prefer them a lot of the time to females and always have had more male friends then women. Even today a lot of my close friends are males because I feel I can be myself around them and have a great laugh.

I took a long time to like or appreciate this film and it wasn’t until I was in my twenties this happened, as a kid I found it boring. It is a very clever film the way that they interview other couples throughout and break the fourth wall and that is why it is such a stand out film.

It is a film that can give luck to anyone who wants to believe that love exists and it can happen. Not everyone is lucky in love and films like this give people hope and make them wish of a more simpler time before technology.
