Day 25 – Never Been Kissed

When I think about this film I can remember being a kid and holding the VHS cover in my hand, it’s such a random memory but I remember it vividly.

A newspaper reporter enrolls in high school as part of research for a story.

I can’t remember when I first saw Never Been Kissed but I know that I was quite young. It was one of those films that had a bizarre concept, very cheesy but as a kid was enjoyable. I am not sure if I would enjoy It if I saw it these days but I enjoyed it back in the day.

The concept of the film is very random and I don’t think it would work or be accepted in modern Hollywood as yet again it’s focussed on the world of the “geek”. There are some parts of the film that are incredibly cringey and that is where the comedy comes from – as a lot of the time you are biting your tongue going oh dear….

The romance side of it is a lovely story and sort of makes this film what it is as well as blurring the borders of things that are not meant to happen. However the teacher does not realise that she is an undercover journalist writing stories on the school life and how it is shaping the future.

It is one of those films that you may want to check out even if it is once. It has some fun moments that is why it made the list, it also made the list because I remember that I watched it a lot younger – i don’t think I would now.
